Vaccination in Belgium: a public health issue

In Belgium, the vaccination schedule is established by Sciensano (Belgian Institute of Public Health) and recommended by the Superior Health Council. In Wallonia and Brussels, recommended vaccines are free thanks to the Wallonia-Brussels Federation's vaccination program.

Are vaccines free in Belgium?

Yes! In Wallonia and Brussels, vaccines from the official schedule are entirely free for children. They are available via:

  • ONE consultations — free and accessible everywhere in Wallonia
  • Your general practitioner or pediatrician
  • Local vaccination centers

The vaccination record

In Belgium, every child receives a vaccination record at birth. It is important to keep it and present it at each consultation. The ONE also offers digital monitoring via its application.
